The ICU Alumni Association of Northern California Chapter recently held a successful Alumni Luncheon, which included nine new members. The luncheon was held on March 16 at Usagi Restaurant in San Mateo. The Chapter has been staying busy with various activities throughout the year. For example, they have held, and plan to hold, a membership luncheon every March and a joint barbecue outing with Sophia (Jochi) University Alumni Association every September. Their next meet-up will be the BBQ party on Sep 14, and they will happily welcome any ICU exchange students who are planning to study there in the coming autumn term.
A total of 21 people, with two babies, joined the Alumni Luncheon. The 21 participants included a former ICU faculty member, graduates of a range of classes from 1963-2011, a UC Davis student who had just returned from a year at ICU and three spouses of “ICU people”. 10 of the ICU participants are permanent residents of California, five are in California on a few years’ assignments and three are currently studying at California schools.
They spent a little over two hours together, introducing themselves (again, in many cases) and exchanging relevant information. All participants appeared to feel that this was a happy, friendly and meaningful reunion. In addition, they would be happy to assist ICU students, alumni, current or former ICU faculty members visiting or moving to California’s Bay Area (including San Francisco and Berkeley) anytime.
Their next event, a barbecue, will be held on Sep 14 in San Mateo, which is close to the San Francisco Airport. All are welcome to join! They’re trying to have more new (and younger) members, so they appreciate if you would contact them directly through their Alumni e-mail address and Facebook group:
